What is food fraud and its meanings

  • Some common foods that are subject to fraud are honey, maple syrup, olive oil, seafood, spices, wine, fruit juices, and meat.

    • Ketchup produced using unsafe, fake illegal products in India

Where to report food fraud in Pakistan

  • You can report fraud calls or SMSs related to food products to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
  • You can file an online complaint against any food business or service provider to the Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan (CRCP).
  • You can report cases of online fraud or substantial financial fraud to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

How to check the authenticity of food products in Pakistan

  • You can send your food samples to a reputable laboratory that offers food testing services, such as SGS Pakistan. They can perform various analyses to verify the quality, safety, origin, and composition of your food products.
